Gmail is the email application included with Google Workspace. Access it from any web browser—no software installation required.
Accessing Gmail
- Go to mail.google.com or gmail.com
- Sign in with your full email address and password
You can also access Gmail from the Google app grid (9 dots) when signed into any Google service.
The Gmail Interface
Left Sidebar:
- Compose – Start a new email
- Inbox – Incoming messages
- Starred – Messages you've marked as important
- Sent – Messages you've sent
- Drafts – Unfinished messages
Main Area:
- Your email list, with newest messages at the top
- Click any message to read it
Top Bar:
- Search box for finding emails
- Settings gear icon
- Your account profile picture
Composing an Email
- Click Compose in the left sidebar
- Enter the recipient's email address in the To field
- Add a Subject line
- Write your message in the body area
- Click Send
Replying to Email
- Open the email you want to reply to
- Click Reply at the bottom of the message (or Reply all to respond to everyone)
- Type your response
- Click Send
Organizing Email
- Star messages by clicking the star icon to mark them for follow-up
- Archive messages you're done with but want to keep (they leave your inbox but remain searchable)
- Delete messages to move them to Trash
- Labels work like folders—apply them to organize messages by project, client, or topic
