Google User Data
This section describes how Insight Dezign, Inc. handles information obtained through Google APIs when a customer connects their Google Business Profile to the Insight Dezign Client Portal. It applies in addition to the general privacy policy set out below.
What we access
When a customer connects their Google account to the Client Portal, we request the Google Business Profile permission (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/business.manage). This permission is used only to:
- list the business locations that account manages;
- read the current business information for a location the customer has chosen;
- update that information — business name, address, phone number, website address, regular opening hours and holiday hours — at the customer’s request;
- read the reviews left on that location, including the star rating, review text, reviewer display name and date; and
- publish, change or remove the business’s own reply to a review, at the customer’s request or with their approval.
We do not access Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Contacts, or any other Google service.
What we store
We store an authorisation credential issued by Google, the email address of the connected Google account, and the identifier and business information of the locations the customer has chosen to manage through the portal. We also store the reviews retrieved for those locations, including the star rating, review text, reviewer display name and date, together with any reply the business has published, so that reviews can be shown in the portal, included in the customer’s reports, and used to alert the customer when a new review arrives. Credentials are encrypted at rest.
How it is used and shared
Information obtained through Google APIs is used solely to display a customer’s business information and reviews in the portal, to publish that information to the customer’s own website, to update the customer’s own Google Business Profile listing at their request, and to publish the business’s own replies to reviews on that listing. Review content is shown only to that customer and to Insight Dezign staff working on their account, and appears in reports we produce for that customer. It is not sold. It is not shared with third parties. It is not used for advertising, and it is not used to develop, improve or train generalised artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
Retention and removal
A customer may disconnect their Google account at any time from within the Client Portal, or revoke our access from the Third-party apps & services section of their Google Account. On disconnection or revocation we delete the stored credential, the connection record and the stored review content for that account. Deletion may also be requested by writing to support@insightdezign.com.
Limited Use
Insight Dezign’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
