Getting Started
ID Maintenance Mode is a lightweight WordPress plugin that blocks frontend access to your site with a customizable maintenance page. Administrators always bypass the maintenance page, and a shareable link lets clients preview the site without a WordPress account.
What This Plugin Does
- One-click maintenance mode — Enable or disable with a single checkbox.
- Custom maintenance page — Set a background color, background image, and rich text content.
- Content block styling — Choose a background color for the content container, or make it transparent.
- Shareable bypass link — Generate a URL that sets a 7-day cookie, letting clients browse the site while everyone else sees the maintenance page.
- Admin bar indicator — A yellow-highlighted “Maintenance Mode” item appears in the admin bar when the mode is active, linking directly to the settings page.
- SEO-safe — Returns a 503 status code with a Retry-After header so search engines know the outage is temporary.
Who Can Use It
Only users with the manage_options capability (Administrators by default) can access the settings page. Administrators always bypass the maintenance page automatically — no bypass link needed.
