13 Scheduling Posts for Future Publication Print

  • 0

You don't have to publish a post immediately. WordPress allows you to schedule content to go live at a specific date and time.

How to Schedule a Post

  1. Create or edit your post as usual
  2. In the Publish box (right sidebar), find the line that says Publish immediately
  3. Click Edit next to it
  4. Set your desired date and time using the dropdowns
  5. Click OK
  6. The blue Publish button will change to Schedule
  7. Click Schedule to confirm

Your post will remain in "Scheduled" status and automatically publish at the specified time.

Viewing Scheduled Posts

Go to Posts → All Posts and click the Scheduled link above the post list to see all upcoming content.

Editing a Scheduled Post

You can edit a scheduled post at any time before it goes live. Open it, make your changes, and click Update. The scheduled time remains unless you change it.

Changing or Canceling the Schedule

To change the publish time, click Edit next to the date in the Publish box and adjust it.

To cancel scheduling and save as a draft instead:

  1. In the Publish box, find Status: Scheduled
  2. Click Edit next to it
  3. Change the status to Draft
  4. Click OK
  5. Click Save Draft

Time Zone

Scheduled posts use your site's time zone, not your local time. Your site's time zone is configured under Settings → General. If posts are publishing at unexpected times, check this setting or contact your site administrator.
