11 Editing Your Profile Print

Go to Users → Profile to update your personal settings.

Key Fields

  • Display Name – How your name appears publicly on posts and comments. You can choose from variations of your first and last name.
  • Email – Used for notifications and password resets. Keep this current.
  • Website – Your personal or company website (optional)
  • Biographical Info – A short bio that may display on author pages, depending on your theme.

Profile Picture

WordPress uses Gravatar (Globally Recognized Avatar) for profile pictures. To set yours:

  1. Go to gravatar.com
  2. Create a free account using the same email address as your WordPress account
  3. Upload your photo

Your Gravatar will automatically appear on any site where you comment or contribute using that email.

Changing Your Password

Scroll down to Account Management and click Set New Password. WordPress will generate a strong password, or you can clear the field and enter your own.

Password requirements:

  • Use a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols
  • Avoid common words or personal information
  • Consider using a password manager

Admin Color Scheme

At the top of your profile, you can choose a different color scheme for your dashboard. This is purely cosmetic and only affects what you see.

Saving Changes

Click Update Profile at the bottom of the page to save any changes.
