Quick Start Guide
ID Post Order works immediately after activation. Here’s how to reorder your posts.
Reordering Posts
- Navigate to any post list screen — for example, Posts > All Posts.
- Look for the Order column on the left side of the table (next to the checkbox column). Each row shows a grip handle and the current order number.
- Click and hold the grip handle on any row, then drag it up or down to a new position.
- Release the row. The new order is saved automatically — no save button needed.
Important Details
- Sorting must be set to Order — Drag-and-drop is only active when the list is sorted by the Order column (this is the default). If you click a different column header to sort by title, date, etc., dragging is disabled until you switch back.
- Search disables dragging — When a search filter is active, the drag-and-drop handles are disabled since the filtered results don’t represent the full ordering.
- Pagination is handled — If you have multiple pages of posts, the plugin calculates offsets correctly so items on page 2 continue from where page 1 left off.
Works with All Post Types
The Order column and drag-and-drop functionality appear on every post type that has an admin UI — posts, pages, WooCommerce products, custom post types, and more. No configuration is needed to enable a specific post type.
