Getting Started

ID Post Order is a lightweight WordPress plugin that adds drag-and-drop ordering to every post list screen in the admin. It uses the core menu_order field — the same field WordPress already uses for page ordering — so your data stays portable and isn’t locked into a proprietary system.

What This Plugin Does

• Adds an Order column — A new column with a grip handle appears on every post list table.
• Drag-and-drop reordering — Grab any row by its grip handle and drag it to a new position. The new order saves automatically via AJAX.
• Works everywhere — Posts, pages, and all registered custom post types are supported out of the box.
• Zero configuration — Activate the plugin and you’re done. There are no settings pages.

Who Can Use It

Any user with the edit_posts capability can drag and reorder items. By default this includes Administrators, Editors, Authors, and Contributors.
