Setup Instructions for the WHMCS Venmo Payment Gateway Module
This module allows you to accept payments via Venmo in your WHMCS installation. Please follow these steps to set up the module:
1. Installation:
- Download: Download the Venmo Payment Gateway module zip file.
- Upload: Upload the module zip file to your WHMCS installation directory, specifically to
/modules/gateways/
and unzip. - Permissions: Ensure the
qrcodes
directory within thevenmo
module directory has write permissions for the web server (e.g.,755
).
2. Activation:
- Log in to WHMCS Admin Area: Go to Setup > Payments > Payment Gateways.
- Activate Module: Locate “WHMCS Venmo Payment Gateway” in the list of payment gateways and click Activate.
3. Configuration:
- Configure Settings:
- Venmo Username: Enter your Venmo username without the “@” symbol.
- Notification Email: Enter the email address where you want to receive payment notifications.
- Instructions: You can customize the payment instructions displayed to customers. The default instructions are usually sufficient.
- Save Changes: Click Save Changes to store your configuration.
4. Usage:
- Invoice Payment: When a customer views an invoice, they will see the option to “Pay with Venmo.”
- Modal Window: Clicking this button opens a modal window with:
- A QR code that customers can scan with their Venmo app to make a payment.
- A “Pay” button that opens the Venmo payment link in a new tab.
- Payment instructions.
- Payment Notification: After making a payment, the customer clicks the “Payment Sent” button in the modal to send you an email notification.
- Invoice Status: The invoice status will be automatically updated to “Payment Pending” after the notification is sent.
Important Notes
- QR Code Library: This module requires the
phpqrcode
library. Make sure it’s installed correctly in thevenmo
module directory. - Email Template: The module will attempt to create an email template called “Venmo Payment Notification” during setup. You can customize this template if needed (Setup > Email Templates).
- Manual Review: Since Venmo payments are not automatically verified, you’ll need to manually check your Venmo account to confirm payments and update the invoice status accordingly.
- Troubleshooting: If you encounter any issues, check your WHMCS error logs and your server’s PHP error logs for debugging information.
