Trouble adding and admin to a facebook page?
An interesting thing happened to me the other day. I was trying to help someone who couldn’t seem to add an admin to their page. They were following the instructions and facebook was telling them “You must be friends with the person” and “the person must like the page”.
In this case the person they were trying to make an admin had already liked page but the page was made without a personal account so they couldn’t be friends with them.
What to do?
Some will tell you that you have to create a personal account to go with the page, add the person as a friend and then you can add them as an admin. While this is one way to do it, it’s not necessary.
So how do you do it then?
This work around is so simple it’s going to blow your mind… Are you ready….? Use their email!
Anyone who wants to be an admin for a page must have an account with facebook. The account doesn’t have to have a visible profile though as I’ve show you in, Create a Facebook page without a personal Facebook account. Personal profile or no personal profile, ask the person you are adding what email address they have on their facebook account. They can find it by going to the little gear in the upper right corner and choosing “Account Settings” from the dropdown menu or simply choosing “Settings” in the upper right corner of a page with no personal account. Now just use their email address to add them as and admin or page manager. Don’t forget to confirm the change with your password.
Update – 10/28/2013
Thank you to the people who have reached out to me with their additional problem. It seems there are other items that can prevent you from adding an admin to your page. Have the person you are trying to add as an admin follow “Instructions to be added as a facebook admin”
